After many years and realizing when I laughed at the "Shoemaker's children always go barefoot" jokes, I was laughing at myself, I finally converted the stalwart sphericalcow.net site to one of these snazzy blogging type sites that are a little easier to maintain.

I'm sure many of you are wondering why I chose this blogging software: Droopy, Rupaul, Drip Dry; what exactly is this software you're using Dave? Drupal has been a web framework for many years now and during the course of evaluating different software for my church to use on their site, something intrigued me about Drupal. It's very customizable and you can extend it to do just about anything your heart desires. Most of all I chose Drupal because for some reason I have to express my individuality through technology choices. "Windows? No, OS/2 is better." "TiVO? No, I'll build my own DVR." So this may just be another in a long line of choices I later regret, but at least this time there is a large contingent of other individuals who are using it. I'm in good company.

Welcome to the new site. Rather than try to get it perfect before switching it on, it will be a work in progress. Drupal has lots of cool plug-ins for doing stuff like soliciting advertising clicks from your friends and family (hint, hint). Feel free to vote on the poll. I will try to post a different one every week or so.

P.S. I'm not sure what it says about me that I'm so concerned about getting my shameless advertising links to work that I originally created this portion of the post to see if it will populate the links with something other than blank space. I guess it says exactly what I just said.
